Unmissable Saint Remy
Our guide to the local secret gems...
Towns & Villages
SAINT REMY DE PROVENCE
Nestled between Avignon and Arles, the pretty town of Saint Remy de Provence is encircled by
the remnants of it’s 14thC walls. Charming squares, fountains and Medieval buildings adorn the
bustling centre and there are plenty of restaurants and cafes to choose from. Van Gogh painted his
famous ‘Starry Night’ here, and it’s also the birthplace of Nostradamus.
AVIGNON
Historic town, surrounded by ancient ramparts and dotted with leafy squares. The Festival
d’Avignon, an annual arts festival, is held every year in July.
ARLES
Once home to many famous artists including Picasso, Van Gogh and Gaugin. The Roman
ampitheatre, Musée de l’Arles et de la Provence Antiques and Montmajour Abbey are must sees.
