Unmissable Meganisi

Our guide to the local secret gems...

Towns & Villages

Vathi
The main town on the island, dotted with brightly coloured fishing boats and family-run tavernas lining the waterside offering a delicious selection of local seafood. By day the atmosphere here is sleepy and quiet- by night there is a relaxed, romantic buzz.

Katomeri
A small labyrinthine village with a couple of mini markets, a bakery, pharmacy and a couple of tavernas which form the heart of the quiet night life here.

Spartohori
Built high above sea level to protect inhabitants from raiding sea pirates, and filled with the warm scent of the surrounding pine forests.

Beaches

Fanari
A mixture of sand and pebble with two cafe/bars on the beach, one of which rents out sun loungers and umbrellas. A small path will take you further round to Karakofolia beach.

Agios Ioannis
This beach has wonderful views over to Lefkas. There is a beach taverna in the summer months but watch out for occasional sea urchins in the water.

SPILIA
A small shingle beach just South of Porto Spilia with a beach cafe.

LIMONARI
Located on the South East coast of Meganisi with views of Kalamos. Crystal clear water, tiny sand-like pebbles and a small beach cafe (open during the summer months) make this a lovely spot. Further along from the beach, there are several rocky ledges dipping into the sea, perfect for private sunbathing platforms. Be warned, the walk back up is steep and hot so bring sturdy shoes and fill up your water bottles.
